Hi! I'm Jelene Morris and I received my BFA from the University of South Carolina. In my home studio, I make my fun and whimsical creations. In the 90's I mainly worked in clay, then I moved to working on paper and canvas. I loved creating faces on my clay pieces, then I moved on to making much larger paper paintings. Some were around 6" feet in length. Around 1997 I started my website jelene.com and began to sell my paintings on ebay. When more people started asking for the smaller paintings, I started making my "Minipop" canvas series, which has continued to almost 5000 paintings to date. Those range in size from 6"x6" to 12"x12" on canvas.
Tickles Goldfish is my signature character and he was created in 1998 after my own goldfish "Tickles". His girlfriend "Baby Dumpling" is the peach goldfish with the pink pearls. You will also see other characters that I draw, such as "Blue Dog" which was drawn after my dog Brantley. I also make "Warhol in a can" which is a play on the idea of Warhol's famous Campbell soup can, placing Warhol himself on the soup can. I also make the blue dog riding the banana mobile, "I'm toasted" toaster, "Omg you're hardcore", "Poopie flower" "I'm crabby" the crab, among others... On my larger paintings, I make a series of "Poptoons" which are my cartoon like characters... I also have a more serious style of paintings, which are based on dreams which are called the "Nightmare" series. I have sold my work all over the world. Thank you internet! You can find my work on Etsy, Ebay and now I have a shop here on my site! Many moons ago, it was also shown twice on the Home and Family show in 1998 and a couple times on the Rosie O'Donnell show. |
